All you need to know about different types of Cloud Computing Systems
Cloud Computing is a technology that makes use of internet and central remote servers to manage data and applications. This technology allows the users and businesses to have useful applications without installation. The consumers and businesses can also access their personal files on any computer or laptop by using internet access. In simple terms, cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the internet instead of the computer hard drive. Isn’t that a great option?
Still not convinced for using Cloud Computing services? Well, Cloud is widely used for cutting down the hardware and maintenance costs. Enterprises all over the world are migrating to cloud and enjoying the several benefits since the last few years. Many companies are offering unlimited amount of storage space. Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Oracle, and IBM are the leading Cloud service providers. They offer various models such as platform as a service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), software as a service (SaaS).
Types of Cloud Computing Systems
- Public CloudA public cloud system allows several users and businesses connect to the cloud as a service for different aspects. Public cloud services provide multiple features as well as cross functionality. It is an ideal cloud solution for single users and small enterprises or start-ups.Though they are highly scalable, the security would depend on the measures taken by the service provider. Because of their heavy investments, they offer optimal performance. The costs for Public cloud services are relatively low as compared to other types of cloud services. Examples: Amazon Web services, Microsoft Azure, Google Drive, etc.
- Private CloudPrivate Cloud is generally set up on premise and offers greater control and security to the businesses. It offers limited scalability but enhanced security as most of your data remains in-house. Businesses with sensitive and confidential data exchange should make use of a private cloud system to get greater returns. Private clouds can be divided into two types: on premise or external private clouds. External cloud systems are exclusive to a particular business, but they would be hosted by a company that specializes in cloud infrastructure. They are considered to be cheaper as compared to on premise private clouds. On premise cloud solutions may require resources such as servers and air conditioners, to name a few. It would require initial setup cost, ongoing expenses, and other maintenance costs. Example: Any establishment set up in-house.
- Hybrid CloudCombination of private and public cloud systems is called hybrid cloud. It is primarily setup on a private cloud, and then controls public cloud as per the requirements. It helps to enhance the public and private cloud systems. Hybrid cloud also eliminates the individual drawbacks of public and private clouds. One of the major features of hybrid cloud is that it can switch between private and public cloud systems.
